The Weekly Roundup: Simple Image Editing Using Flare, 5 Must Have iPhone Image Effect Apps and the Fonta Text App

The Weekly Roundup: Simple Image Editing Using Flare, 5 Must Have iPhone Image Effect Apps and the Fonta Text App | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

With apps and image editing being the more bell of the ball, in any situation. Flare has been nominated as a simple image editing tool that may have you wanting to reach out and grab it for yourself. Although Fonta has a text lovely appeal, while these 5 must have apps may have you thinking twice about the ones you already have.

Flare A Simple Photo Editing Tool:

http://macgenius.co/apps/graphics/flare-for-mac-review-simple-image-processing/

You can just sense those hours of editing waiting, right? Well no more, yes that's right, no more. Flare from the Mac Store has one of the quickest drag and drop program. Along with the fact that the program can edit files in Photoshop, iPhoto and even Aperature. What more could you wish for.

5 Must Have iPhone Image Effect Apps:

http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/5-must-have-iphone-image-effect-apps

What we loved about the apps listed in the article, was that each one tends to primarily focus in at one point. For instance Waterlogue is a more artistic based photo editing app. While Color Splash is that fun transition of black and white, but adding color to a pinpointed object or person.

Fonta: Add Custom Text To Your Images:

http://www.insidemobileapps.com/2013/12/31/fonta-add-custom-text-to-your-images-on-ios/

Now we've all seen texts labeled onto some images. Most the time they look like they were done on paint. But Fonta gives an air of professional, fun quality that will have you thinking, that maybe I should add some text as well. Besides it's main feature, the app does offer image editing options and a number of tools.

Nothing quite beats the possibility that an app you download may become your favorite. And in the case of image processing and editing, filters can make a photo or kill it. For us though, we will try to bring you the best in quality and the most up to date apps that will lead you in the right direction. Come back next week for more!

The Weekly Round Up: Turn Your Photos Into A Kaleidoscopic Eye, Why Instagram's Direct Messaging Was A Great Idea and How To Make Those Colors Come To Life In Photoshop

The Weekly Round Up: Turn Your Photos Into A Kaleidoscopic Eye, Why Instagram's Direct Messaging Was A Great Idea and How To Make Those Colors Come To Life In Photoshop | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

If new things were not afoot, then where would we be. But for this week, Instagram has done excellent with pleasing it's users with 'direct messaging.' Especially those Holiday travelers. How a kaleidoscopic effect may just be the best effect for your blurry images and the fact that color can pop and come to life when you use Photoshop.

When apps are mentioned, it's usually about photo sharing. So this one is kind of special. The Kaleidoscopic eye effect app can make you either feel as if you were in the beginning of the title credits for the U.K. show 'Skins.' Or it could even help you to develop a cool retro look for your blog site. And to the very last finished touch, you have the controls to have your image look how you want it to.

http://gizmodo.com/turn-your-photos-into-kaleidoscopic-eye-candy-with-this-1486071312

Instagram Direct, may just be the perfect app for travelers. Why? Because a great idea was brought up, what if you are in the city with a few friends. But you're not in the same area. You can send photo messages to each other, showing where you are or who you've met. And at the end of the day, meet up for dinner. This new feature to the app is doing more wonderful charm than harm.

http://www.jaunted.com/story/2013/12/12/124153/84/travel/Why+Instagram's+New+'Direct'+Sharing+is+a+Great+Idea+for+Photo-Happy+Travelers

Besides great fine art images being in black and white, color tend to be a more difficult tool. This is one of those tutorials that you wished you had seen back in the day, but fortunately it's to the rescue now. Making those colors pop and pronounce themselves can be hard the manual way, so try it through Photoshop. It'll give it a 3D element without the gimmicky effect.

Surely, this weekly round up has given you some insight for what this week had held. But if not be sure to come back for more information, whether it's about the latest app improvements or an image effect that could start a trend.

The Weekly Round Up: Tips on How to Retouch & Shooting Headshots, The Perfect Lighting app PicLight and Long Exposure Photos | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

These articles for this week have one common theme, lighting. It's been said a million times but do we ever really take the time to consider just how important lighting might be. Lucky for us, we are giving you the resources to figure out what program or situation will work for you. With that in mind, how do you feel about long exposed images? Does it seem that no matter what you do, you can't quite get a clear image...well then keep reading.

Without looking overly professional with your typical business head shot. Aaron Nace showed that the Forbes look can also be a bit light hearted.  But more importantly it was to create a balance and a connection with his clients that he ended up shooting. Bringing out the playful quality everyon invokes. Playing with the lighting helped as well, to bring out a more un-dull grayscale photo.

http://weeder.org/rLHWZ2b

Mac has a lot of skillful advancements. PicLight is no different, PearlMountain released this app to make the perfect lighting situation for any photograph. Of course you may have to choose a filter that will better represent that certain emotion to come across. For instance a wedding photo needs to be bright for such a wonderful occausion.

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/11/prweb11328723.htm

Saying that it is easy to become frustrated with long exposed photos, is an understatement. And if you've had that hair pulling moment, time and time again...please read this article. You will also be able to learn how to freeze any subjects in your image to crystal quality. The whole idea is to take two images, not just one and combining them in Photoshop.

http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-freeze-moving-subjects-in-a-long-exposure-photo

For the bat, lighting should be seem as one of the main subjects in your photos. Yes, you can go back and re-shoot to get the perfect shadow and highlighted angle. But you can also try PicLight to adjust the settings to achieve that perfect batch of "just the right amount." For more information on these subjects, come back at the end of every week to read about our weekly round up.

Real Life Instagram, CSS Image Filters and Using Adobe Photoshop for Batch Editing

Real Life Instagram, CSS Image Filters and Using Adobe Photoshop for Batch Editing | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

What is this Real Life Instagram? Created by Bruno Riberio who has taken upon himself to go throughout his city to place this life-like scenes. Taking a cut out from the Instagram feed, placing a transparent but using different colored filters, to show case what may have received a number of likes and hashtags. Have you seen these around your city? And if so, taking a picture of the reality based Instagram may sound a bit like inception.

Have you experimented around with the CSS properties? Instead of using the traditional html elements, using CSS filters for specifically your images and it does work. The tutorial promises that it will work just like any other CSS property. But the only browsers that support this are Chrome, Wekbit and Safari. It does have greyscale, sepia, blur and hue rotate. Honestly I tried out this CSS tutorial and I had no problem. It even seemed to work faster than your normal run of the mill time using Corel Photoshop.

Besides time saving and less time consuming, batch editing in Adobe Photoshop. You don't have to perform a lot of actions either. Opening up the action palette, where you can prepare the photos and process what you want to change. What I liked best, was that they show you when a photo has been resized, how the pixels will pixelate and they needed to be reformated to it's original quality. And now you will have the original images saved in it's own file, while the finished product will have it's own as well.

Seene, Creating Bokeh in Photoshop and Cryptstagram

Seene, Creating Bokeh in Photoshop and Cryptstagram | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

Seene, an iPhone app for the 3D generation. It runs on what I call a similar panoramic realm, moving up and down and left to right, you capture the image while the camera is running. Of course if you like the result, your nearest media outlet will allow you to upload your stunning 3D collaboration. Messing around with such new technology is truly amazing, but taking a rolling camera and transforming it into a soild 3D image is astounding.

Bokeh has been an endearing photo effect, from cardboard to tape, you can create it's fuzzy, heart shaped or haloed image. Now instead of cutting out paper and using tape to stick it to the lens. Photoshop uses a serious of customized brushes, blending options and filters. Hey no more mess and an easier clean up!

Cryptstagram has to be one of the off the wall ideas surfing around on the internet today. Using an Encryption through photos, sending secret messages and what not. This can almost seem scary if you receive one and you have no idea what it is or one of the coolest inventions to come along yet. For those computer wizards out there, this will be a game full of mind bending tools.

The Q 3G Point-and-Shoot with unlimited storage, Getting it Right with Layers and 16 of the Best Image Processors and Editors | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

Once the Q 3G point-and-shoot decided to grace itself on the internet, my jaw dropped. Not only is those portable camera, water safe but also it contains unlimated storage space. Who would have thought, this swedish design also will not make a dent in your pocket. Reading the reviews and just the endless capaabilities it holds, keeps making think...why hasn't this happened before?

Learning from the individuals that have been in the Photoshop game a bit longer...doesn't hurt. So with Jeff Newcomer, who doesn't keep it a secret that learning how to apply layers...will not be an easy feat in the beginning. Between the adjustment layers and the mask layers, especailly with mask layers, one rule to remember has left me reciting it in my head over and over, "White reveals and Black conceals." This concept in a helpful way, allows the user to understand more clearly what exactly they intend to do to their photographs.

Knowing that you have a variety of Image Processors as well as Editors to choose from...can benefit you more...or at least you can figure out what will work for you. From the SunlitGreen BatchBlitz that can act as a categorizer, and you know for those of us that desparately need that. The amount of help that can come from that, can save you a lot of time. Pick and choose though, don't just select one at random. Read through and figure out which one will match the necessary requirements you will need. But this list is one of the best, I've come across in ages.

The Weekly Roundup: Phoenix Photo Editor, Color Corrector 2014 Could Be the Year Web Browsers Replace Photoshop and Polaroid's Polamatic App

The Weekly Roundup: Phoenix Photo Editor, Color Corrector 2014 Could Be the Year Web Browsers Replace Photoshop and Polaroid's Polamatic App | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it
Kitty Fisher's insight:

The roundup for this week has a photo editor that could be Snapseed's sister to how Photoshop could be wiped out because of the 2014 color corrector browser. But who knows maybe the Polaroid's Polamatic app will be a hit to be bargined with.

Phoenix Photo Editor:

http://www.cultofmac.com/263332/phoenix-photo-editor-its-no-snapseed-but-its-close/

Yeah, it may be no Snapseed but Phoenix holds it's own. The relatively close app, using your finger to tap the blackboard, easel like canvas you'll feel more like a painter than a photographer. Which is a nice change in scenery. Overall this app will have you testing it out before you can think twice about it.

Color Corrector 2014 Could Be the Year Web Browsers Replace Photoshop:

http://qz.com/167216/2014-could-be-the-year-web-browsers-replace-photoshop/

The World Wide Web has stepped up its game since, well since the internet came to fruitation. CSS will be gaining the utmost features that will turn functions into a web developers dreamland. They will be able to control the color, graphic design, textures and tones. What will become of Photoshop if this takes off?

Polaroid's Polamatic App:

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Polaroid-s-Polamatic-App-for-iOS-Gets-Major-Update-Adds-New-Filters-Classic-Borders-418304.shtml

More effects and features, so Polaroid has also joined the arms race to updating everything within its functions. Giving digital a Polaroid authentic experience. One cool stand out feature was that they scanned real Polaroid's for their new frame/border effect.

First and foremost Photoshop may have competition in this new year. That one alone has eyebrows raised. But if you are feeling nostalgic, try the new Polaroid app and don't throw down the Phoenix Photos Editor just yet. It may just fit your style. Come back next week for more news.

The refocusing challenge, boy oh boy. That idea of being able to refocus a shot after you've already taken? That can happen, which will take out all the re-shooting and altering in the Lightroom. Nokia's is only a software based where the Lytro is built with the capabilities.

Bryan O'Neil Hughes has made the greatest demo, for using panorama in Photoshop. And let me tell you, this video showcased how wonderful Photoshop can be. That if you have the negative canvas, that needs to be filled with the rest of a landscape or horizon. It can take that information and fill it in to make a complete picture.

Choosing DSLR Lenses and Filters, iPad Creative and How to Save An Underexposed Image

Choosing DSLR Lenses and Filters, iPad Creative and How to Save An Underexposed Image | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

It's hard choosing a DSLR lens or filter. There are tons of different versions out there to pick from. But knowing that with an autofocus that any USM, STm, SWM, HSM or USD lens would work. Understanding the Stabilisation, Reduction and Compensations with various lenses can change your outlook on which Kit Lens you should look for.

I have been so excited to talk about the iPad Creative. What I love most is that this will be a fun in school idea for virtually every child.  Do Ink has come up with the fun thought for using a Green Screen. So it would be interactive and it will allow for kids to become more involved with what they are learning without being overly stressed.

Saving an underexposed photo, may just mean the world to some of use Photographers. With those photos you just do not want to throw away. Using Lightroom, you can use the Adjustment Brushes and Graduated Filters. The graduated filter would bring the light in the background to a higher intensity, while keeping the forground in the same light. And then the adjustment brush would bring out the objects that may be lost in the shadows of the foreground.

RetroLift 3D Text Effects, Matching Production Style to the Image and Android 4.4 KitKat has the Perfect Selfie

RetroLift 3D Text Effects, Matching Production Style to the Image and Android 4.4 KitKat has the Perfect Selfie | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

Supposedly the 'flat design' is in. But lately the 3D Text Effect is some of the best design concepts that has come around in ages. RetroLift  has the right amount of pop mixed with vintage. Not a lot of programs can give off a movie or realistic touch to the whole ordeal, it looks overly comically or badly done doodles. This casts a rich shadow to show the raised letters, coming off of the screen.

When to use high contrast? It is so easy to get caught up in the production of it all, right? But you must match the overall production ot the emotion of the moment. And in this case it was a wedding, on of the most important moments in a persons life. And if you have a lot of light, the camera will tend to focus on the light that is given off, creating a bit of a white out effect. In doing so, you can go in through Lightroom and fix  it to bring out more color, especially to add more depth to the detail.

Android KitKat has added more advantages to it's announcement last week. Taking features from Snapseed and Google's photo editor is found within the new KitKat. Expect to be able to do a whole lot more with your photos than just the basic, editing and zooming ability. And thankfully the image editor is non-destructive to the images. If you want to reverse to the original, go ahead.

Lomography goes Digital with Experimental lenses, Frightening Filters on Instagram and get Fisheye lense only using image-editing software

Lomography goes Digital with Experimental lenses, Frightening Filters on Instagram and get Fisheye lense only using image-editing software | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

The expertimental lense kit from Lomography has to be one your Christmas wish list and if not, add it! They range from standard, wide-angle and fish eye lenses, but on top of that you can take multiple exposures. So maybe you've been wanting to create a stack of double exposed photographs for a while now, well what are you waiting for. The reviews have said that you may not get the best quality but how about letting that creativity run wild for once. At a pretty reasonable price for $89, when typically a lens costs well over a couple of hundred dollars...this is a steal and a project.

I've been searching through the filters on Instagram...picking and choosing which ones are All Hallow's Eve worthy. The top five are Hudson, Earlybird, Brannan, Valencia and Sutro. For the long shadows and white casted sky, giving a more faded haunted illusion, Brannan has been deemed the 'Nancy Drew' of the mystery filters. And this filter works on almost anything from landscapes to carving a pumpkin with your kids. But if you are looking for a more turn of the century, classic filter...Earlybird is brilliant. Not only does it highlight the person's eyes (if it's a portrait) but the contrast is brought out more and slightly dims the brighter colors.

Good news! Instead of saving up and within a year or two you might be able to afford a fisheye lens. But if you can't wait, there is a solution. Photoshop CS4 has the capability to transform your regular 2D image into a rounded fisheye lens masterpiece. What impressed me most was that it did not distort the image or loose any pixelization of any kind. And there was none of that stretching that seems to make one side larger than the other, this was a balanced image that looked as if you had taken it with a fisheye lens.

Camera+ and the New iOS 7 Filters, Restoring Family Photos and Tips for Post-Processing Images in iPhoto

Camera+ and the New iOS 7 Filters, Restoring Family Photos and Tips for Post-Processing Images in iPhoto | Image Effects, Filters, Masks and Other Image Processing Methods | Scoop.it

Camera+ with it's new iOS 7  filters and now new burst mode. Personally when the name of the filter is associated with something such as 'so emo' or 'purple haze' you can't help but be attracted to it. With the added features, you can view before slapping on that filter. And in the moment of action having a burst mode...a life saver. Helpful doesn't even cover it, so in terms, this because a life saver.

Family photos, once we come across an old scrap book, we want to save those memories. And by saving them, I mean scanning them onto our laptops. Sadly with dust and scratches, you just want to preserve them as long as you can. I found using the 'clone tool' will become a close friend. Clean up those family photos, and have patience. The amount of time you may spend on staring at the same image of your mother-in-law, in that bright neon 80's dress...may displease you to some extent. Learn to have fun restoring some events that may led to side spilting laughter or tears.

IPhoto is free, which means in the first paragraph of reading about how you could spend half of your mac money on a software. Unless you know about iPhoto and let's hope you do. This software also has a retouching tool, for those digital noise complaints (as a concert photographer...that break from the IOS to the noise in the photo can be degrading) until you retouch it to look slick as spick and spam. Another tool that's helpful is the editing, where you can take one image and another to as a side by side edit. If you want to replicate the same contrast in one mountain view to another...boy oh boy, you've found your treasure in this one.
